Purchasing and Renting Equipment

IET-ATS has technicians and engineers available to consult with departments wishing to purchase their own systems. Systems typically come in the following four configurations:

  • Personal (Software):
    • Desktop applications e.g. Polycom PVX for Windows
    • Inexpensive
    • Uses your own computer (need a camera and microphone)
    • Capable of point to point as well as joining medium and large sessions
  • Small (Hardware):
    • Point to point
    • Requires monitor and speakers
    • Does point to point – but can use a bridge to access multiple points
    • Can be permanent or portable (requires casing, etc., raising user cost)
    • Larger, higher quality image than software
    • Allows more users than software solutions
  • Medium (Hardware):
    • Handles up to 4 (3 plus yourself) inputs
    • Does not require a “bridge” to meet with up to 3 other locations
    • Can use one input to provide display from a computer
    • Can be permanent or portable (requires casing, etc., raising user cost)
  • Large (Hardware):
    • Handles up to 6 (5 plus yourself) inputs
    • Does not require a “bridge” to meet with up to 5 other locations
    • Can use one input to provide display from a computer
    • Can be permanent or portable (requires casing, etc., raising user cost)
    • Offers dual monitor capability
